Overview

Kharkhorum

Interested in treasures of lost civilizations? Mongolia has a great present for you. Consider visiting Kharkhorum town located in central Mongolia. In 1220, it was a flourishing capital of Genghis Khan's Mongol Empire called Karakorum.
Ogodei Khaan had built the "Tumen Amgalant" Palace, which occupied an area of 2,500 square meters. The palace was built in 1235 and it was the most beautiful part of the capital. It had a large hall with 64 columns where the khans received foreign ambassadors and guests.

Orkhon Valley

The Orkhon Waterfall water flows for remarkable 1120 km to the North and lies in the historically significant Orkhon Valley. The waterfall formed by combination volcanic eruption and earthquakes some 20000 years ago cascades down from a height 27 meters. The Orkhon, longest river in Mongolia, begins at the state worshiped.

Elsen Tasarhai

Elsen Tasarhai, also known as Bayan Gobi, is a suitable place for breaking the seven-hour drive between Ulaanbaatar and Kharkhorin. Elsen Tasarhai literally means "an isolated torn-off piece of sand" and it is a small sequence of real desert in the midst of green steppes. It feels like in the Gobi Desert, and visitors can hike in the sand dunes. This stopover destination can be conveniently combined with the excursion to Khogno Khan Mountain for sightseeing of the Erdene Khamba Monastery ruins, which is only 18 km north from Elsen Tasarhai. Tourist ger camps of this area also offer several horse or camel riding options.

Khustain National Park

Your fantastic time spending in Mongolia will continue at Khustai National Park where you will see the wildlife including Takhi horses. You will arrive to your ger camp early afternoon, so visit information centre and watch brief video about Khustai National Park and reintroduction of wild horses.
